Reducing the Impact of Toxic Stress Workshop

Small work groups will work together to identify specific ways that Toxic Stress impacts students learning experiences. Groups will connect current classroom challenges with these out-of-classroom experiences and explore new strategies that teachers can use to help mitigate stressors and encourage learning. Groups will create plans for implementing these in the classroom. This event is not open to the public.

Building Executive Function Skills in Young Parents

The capacity to plan, motivate, focus attention, manage multiple tasks and follow through are executive functioning skills necessary for healthy parenting. These tools are the infrastructure that enable parents to provide stable, safe, settings for their children. This presentation is an in depth exploration of executive function skills.  We'l explore how executive function skills are developed, their role in parenting and what we can do to help young parents develop these skills and how service providers can support parents in developing executive function skills in their children.
